ACEA (Association of Constructeurs Europeens de l'Automobile) means European Motor Manufacturers Association. It prepares specifications for engine oils covering the most stringent and demanding European test materials.

ACEA specifications represent the largest common denominator of data from engine oils of European vehicle and engine equipment.

ACEA specifications are divided into sections A, B, C and E. The E tank is only valid for trucks. The expiration numbers of sequence documents are making them more distinctive.

  • ACEA Sequence A - Contains standard requirements for gasoline engines of passenger cars.

  • ACEA Sequence B - Contains standard requirements for diesel engines of passenger cars, pickup trucks and light commercial vehicles.

  • ACEA Sequence C – In vehicles with diesel engine oil for exhaust emission limitation, it is necessary to use engine oils of the appropriate size to prevent clogging of the diesel media filters. The final results for the formation of ash are the presence of sulfated ash, sulfur and phosphorus in the engine oil in the allowable proportions, taking the feature of low ash (LOW SAPS) engine oil and sifting it according to the ACEA C specification.

  • ACEA Sequence E – Contains standard requirements for diesel engines used in trucks. Engine oils for automobiles always indicate a combined life of diesel and gasoline engines. (eg ACEA A3 / B3). The numbers following the letters define the differences between engine oils. The higher the number, the higher the engine oil meets the higher requirements.
