ACEA Class Definition

  • A1/B1 : This class is used for gasoline and low-viscosity oil with a high temperature and high shear viscosity ratio (HT/HS) between 2.6 mPa.s for xW-20 viscosity class and 2.9 -3.5 mPa.s for other viscosity classes. It is suitable for extended oil change intervals in vehicles with light diesel engines (passenger cars and light Vans).

  • A3/B3 : The oil defined in this class is suitable for heavy use conditions defined by engine manufacturers for high performance gasoline and light diesel vehicles (passenger cars and light Vans), using low viscosity oil used throughout the year, given extended oil change intervals by engine manufacturers.

  • A3/B4 : The oil defined in this class is suitable for vehicles with high performance gasoline and direct injection diesel engines. It is also suitable for the uses described in A3/B3.

  • A5/B5 : This grade is suitable for extended oil change intervals in gasoline and light diesel engines (passenger cars and light Vans) using low friction and low viscosity oil with high temperature and high shear viscosity ratio (HT/HS) between 2.9-3 5 mPa.s.
